Leading and supervising the daily trade finance operations team, including import and export processing, Letters of Guarantee, and Invoice Financing.
Controlling team operations to ensure the cost-effective delivery of efficient, high-quality services to internal and external customers.
Setting performance targets for staff, monitoring actual performance against targets, and ensuring full compliance with statutory rules, AML/CTF guidelines, and Bank policies.
Establishing and monitoring control functions on trade finance operational procedures to identify root causes of deficiencies and implement rectification strategies.
Managing and improving working relationships with internal customers to support initiatives that enhance the overall customer experience.
Offering process improvement suggestions and acting as a clear communication channel between Senior Management and frontline staff.
Monitoring Exception Reports and collaborating with other business units to handle special or complex transactions.
Handling internal and external stakeholder inquiries regarding complex trade finance operations and providing departmental support where necessary.
Developing, coaching, and motivating teammates to maximize efficiency through structured training and knowledge transfer.
Driving operations digitisation strategies to uplift overall team efficiency and effectiveness.
Visiting external customers independently or jointly with Relationship Managers from the Corporate Banking Department when required.
skills & experiences required.
A Bachelor’s Degree or above in Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline.
A minimum of 15 years of all-rounded experience in Trade Finance / Bills operations, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Sound trade products knowledge and deep experience within a Banking Trade Finance Operation function.
In-depth knowledge of trade rules and regulations, including UCP 600, ISBP, ISP98, and URC 522.
Solid experience in handling Letters of Guarantee and Commodity Trade processing is highly preferable.
Knowledge and experience working within a Hub & Spoke banking model is a distinct advantage.
Holder of a Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS) qualification is highly preferable.
Strong people and project management skills, with a proven track record of meeting tight SLAs and performing efficiently under pressure.
Proficiency in MS Office.
Excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese), with professional proficiency in Mandarin (Putonghua) being a strong advantage.
