Our client is seeking a Head of Data Center Operations & Facilities to lead the strategic planning, team leadership, and day-to-day operation of their critical data center environment. This role demands a hands-on approach, balancing strategic oversight with a willingness to be "down-to-earth."
about the job.
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy and roadmap to build, deliver, improve, and maintain a best-in-class data center environment.
- IT Operations & Asset Management: Oversee, manage, and maintain all IT assets and equipment within the data center, including processors, accelerators, network infrastructure, storage solutions, and the full software stack. This includes leading IT operations incident response to quickly address and resolve any issues impacting system performance or availability.
- Facilities Management: Oversee, manage, and maintain all critical data center facilities. This includes power distribution, cooling systems, structured cabling infrastructure, and more.
- Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of around 15-20 FTEs, encompassing both IT operations and facility management specialists. Foster a collaborative environment and support professional growth.
- Budget & Cost Optimization: Prepare and manage the data center operations budget, identify opportunities for cost optimization, and regularly review operational costs to ensure efficiency.
- Governance & Standards: Formulate, implement, and maintain robust governance frameworks, policies, standards, and procedures for data center management and operations.
skills & experiences required.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8+ years of proven experience in a leadership role within a large-scale data center environment; prior experience in managing a 24/7 Tier 3 or above data center is highly preferable.
- Demonstrated experience in both IT operations and comprehensive facility management for data centers.
- Familiarity with data center facility management software, security protection and defense tool sets, and IT service management platforms to maintain robust operations.
- Proven experience managing enterprise-level data center projects from conception to completion.
- Familiarity with industry best practices and audit requirements; CISSP, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Auditor, and ITIL certifications are a significant plus.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in English and Chinese; and currently based in Hong Kong with a valid work permit.
- A down-to-earth individual who is willing to conduct regular on-site visits and actively engage in operational aspects, not just strategy.
