about the job.As a Sourcing Specialist (Beauty), you will be instrumental in planning and controlling sourcing unit activities aligned with commercial and development strategies. You will oversee workflow, conduct extensive product and vendor research, and ensure sourcing excellence within the beauty category. Your responsibilities will include:
... - Planning and controlling the activities of a designated sourcing unit based on management's commercial and development strategies.
- Conducting in-depth product and vendor research, and coordinating visits at trade fairs and exhibitions to identify market sector opportunities.
- Overseeing and visiting manufacturers, factories, and overseas agents as required to create opportunities and resolve problems.
- Working closely with the global sourcing team on buying calendars, merchandise categories, and production schedules.
- Negotiating the best prices for merchandise in conjunction with buyers.
- Ensuring that potential new vendors and factories meet company standards and requirements for Social Compliance and Cargo Security Programs.
- Ensuring inspection programs and company compliance guidelines are strictly followed with regard to sourcing.
skills & experiences required.
- University graduate with a minimum of 5 years’ solid experience in sourcing and production or a related field.
- At least 2 years’ proven experience in a buying office, agent, or well-known importer catering to the U.S. Market.
- Demonstrated relevant experience as a specialist in the assigned category (Beauty) or as a generalist in other categories within the U.S., Canada, or UK retail market.
- Fluent in conversation, written communication, and comprehension of Japanese or Korean, in addition to English.
- A strong understanding of buying office operations, manufacturing principles, materials, production processes, U.S. customs, and international logistics and trade, with a hands-on approach.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven record of building strong relationships.
- Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, negotiation, and time management skills.
- Independent with a passion for products and knowledgeable in the latest market trends.
- Possess strong business acumen and an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Willing and able to frequently travel to explore new opportunities.
