A global leader in the FMCG sector to find a seasoned and strategic Trade Compliance Manager. Based in Hong Kong, you will join a dynamic regional team and play a crucial role in navigating the complex landscape of international trade.
about the job.
You will actively monitor customs regulations across the APAC region, assess potential impacts, and communicate necessary actions to mitigate risk and ensure compliance.
You will oversee all regional customs compliance activities, including customs valuations, HS code classifications, Certification of Origin validation, CITES permits, and ATA Carnet utilizations.
You will serve as the primary point of contact, communicating with government authorities, customs brokers, and internal stakeholders to resolve any trade-related issues.
You will provide expert trade compliance recommendations for key projects, new market entries, and evolving supply chain flows to ensure all activities align with local laws and Group policies.
You will partner with technical teams to ensure the appropriate utilization of GTS/SAP systems for customs control and reporting.
You will develop and conduct effective trade compliance training for local teams, empowering them with the knowledge to translate Group directives into operational excellence.
skills & experiences required.
Over 10 years of proven experience in trade compliance, gained from an in-house role, consultancy, or a 3PL, with a strong focus on the APAC region.
In-depth knowledge of import/export regulations, e-commerce compliance, customs rules, product classification (HS codes), and AEO programs.
Extensive experience collaborating directly with customs and import/export control authorities.
Exceptional problem-solving, critical thinking, and crisis management skills, with an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
A collaborative team player with strong cultural awareness and a self-motivated, detail-oriented work ethic.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese are essential; proficiency in a third Asian language is a plus.
