As a Principal Database Administrator, you will:
Anchor the technical steering and senior-level management of enterprise database solutions to guarantee continuous availability, top-tier performance, and operational resilience.
Architect and direct database installations, provisioning, patching schedules, upgrades, and end-to-end lifecycle lifespans across hybrid cloud environments.
Monitor, secure, and fine-tune database environments to maintain peak processing efficiency and strict asset protection.
Formulate, validate, and execute stringent backup schedules and business continuity protocols aligned with corporate RTO and RPO benchmarks.
Coordinate with engineering, architecture, and application delivery squads to facilitate technical alignment across major business initiatives.
Evaluate capacity metrics and long-term performance trends to design proactive system optimization and tuning frameworks.
Act as the ultimate escalation point for intricate tier-3 database disruptions and major system downtime, driving deep-dive root-cause analysis.
Audit database configurations against internal compliance benchmarks and external regulatory requirements for data privacy, encryption, and logging.
Validate and govern identity management frameworks, role-based access models, and segregation of duties.
Author and implement standardized database policies, standard operating procedures, and architecture manuals.
Partner with technical leads to build highly scalable, fault-tolerant, and secure transactional data hubs.
Spearhead data infrastructure modernization efforts, legacy software deprecation, and cloud migration programs.
Cultivate automation frameworks and continuous integration methodologies to uplift team productivity and standardize operational tasks.
skills & experience required.
Minimum 10 years of professional IT experience, featuring at least 8 years of direct database administration experience in large-scale corporate settings.
Profound technical fluency in managing Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL, and Alibaba Cloud RDS; prior knowledge of MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or Sybase ASE represents a significant benefit.
Demonstrated history of designing, migrating, and supporting complex cloud and hybrid database solutions.
Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a corresponding technical discipline (equivalent commercial experience will be evaluated).
Holder of industry credentials such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Solutions Architect Expert, or Alibaba Cloud Professional is highly preferred.
Exceptional self-management, organizational acumen, and prioritization skills, with the capability to drive results autonomously across multiple fast-moving projects.
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills, with the capacity to communicate complex technical abstractions to non-technical business partners.
Fluent in English and Cantonese is mandatory; practical communication skills in Mandarin are advantageous.
