As a Commercial Manager, you will take a leading role in safeguarding the financial and contractual health of our mega-scale construction projects. Reporting directly to Senior Management, you will bridge the gap between technical site execution and commercial strategy, optimizing project margins while mitigating risks.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Commercial Strategy & Leadership: Develop and implement robust project commercial strategies, driving cost control, margin improvement, and optimal working capital management.
Financial Management: Oversee project cash flow, review budget forecasts, and ensure the timely submission and finalization of interim payment applications and final accounts.
Contract Administration & Advice: Provide high-level contractual, financial, and commercial advice to project delivery teams, ensuring deep compliance with standard forms of contract (e.g., NEC4, Design & Build).
Claims Management: Analyze project developments, variations, and design modifications. Strategize, prepare, and negotiate high-value contract claims and dispute resolution processes to protect the firm's interests.
Risk & Opportunity Mitigation: Proactively identify potential commercial risks, implement mitigation plans, and capitalize on scope management opportunities.
Subcontractor Management: Oversee the procurement, negotiation, and contract administration of major subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring strict budget alignment.
Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary commercial interface with clients, statutory bodies (e.g., MTRC, CEDD, HyD, AAHK), and internal legal/finance departments.
Team Mentorship: Lead, supervise, and develop the quantity surveying and commercial teams, fostering a commercial mindset across the project lifecycle.
Education: Bachelor’s degree or above in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Building, or a related discipline.
Professional Qualification: Corporate membership of a recognized professional institute (e.g., MHKIS, MRICS, RPS, MHKIE) is highly preferred.
Experience: Minimum 10 years of relevant project experience in the building/civil construction industry, with in a leading commercial or contract management role on the Main Contractor side.
Contractual Expertise: Deep knowledge of Hong Kong construction practices, particularly with extensive experience handling NEC4 or Design & Build (D&B) contracts, claims preparation, and arbitration laws.
Soft Skills: Strong leadership abilities, exceptional negotiation skills, and a strategic, analytical mindset capable of translating complex risks into actionable insights.
Language Skills: Excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin).
