About our client

Our client is a commodity trading company, specializes in marine fuels, headquarter based in Hong Kong. They are a subsidiary of one of the world’s largest mining companies located in Europe.

They are looking for a Sales Executive (Bunker Broker) to oversee the international markets (The US, the UK, UAE, APAC), preferably with the understanding of the commodity trading industry / energy / fuel / oil industry or knowledge of ship bunker brokage from previous employment experiences or from related areas of studies in tertiary education.

You will be trained on the job for 3 months during probation, directly by the Regional Director. You are expected to be proactive, number-sharp, result-oriented, sales driven and a fast learner. You will participate in account servicing, market research (on oil prices, environmental policy updates, etc.), relationship-building, decision making, and you are to be providing the best solutions to clients to meet sales targets and KPIs.

Job Descriptions

  • Establish relationships with existing clients and suppliers, as well as to build relationship with prospects by attending to customer enquiries and adding values to the business by providing clients or potential clients with informative consultations about the market
  • Seek new opportunities to expand the business by conducting continuous research on the oil demand, the market & related policies on the environmental, economical and political aspects
  • Ensure optimum rates that benefit both the company and the client by active brokering and being up to date with the latest market rates
  • Prepare and process quotations, sales enquiries, sales confirmation and prepare contracts
  • Monitor customers’ payments and follow up with late payments
  • In the event of any disagreements or claims, you are required to manage any claims arising and assist with legal actions involving customers or suppliers


  • 1-2 years of experience in trading energies/chemicals/oil/fuel or a degree holder from relevant areas of studies
  • Strong in relationship building and client-telling
  • Passionate in learning about the marine industry, attend to latest market information in terms of pricing, policies, or any changes that would affect the fuel prices
  • Strong negotiation skills and decision making ability
  • Experienced in order management and payment control
  • Able to work with the markets’ time difference - a degree of flexibility is required to work outside of normal working hours
  • Excellent MS Office skills
  • Must be fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin because you will be looking after an international market
