job description


The company is going through a digital transformation and is currently heading up their Digital department.

The purpose of this role is to lead the data & analytics team to provide insights to retail partners’ trading and marketing teams and/or FMCG suppliers.

The job holder will use their close understanding of the client’s business, the FMCG sector and their technical expertise to deliver high quality insight & expertise to their clients.

The strategic responsibilities are:

  • To understand existing and potential needs of retail partners’ trading teams and identify appropriate data strategies to meet those needs including: ranging, pricing, promotions and category management.
  • To devise pragmatic solutions and campaigns based on expertise and analysis to meet clients’ needs, undertake campaign evaluation and present results and recommendations back to clients to deliver realistic commercial benefits and ROI
  • To demonstrate strong understanding of the retail market, the commercial environment and business drivers.

The main day-to-day responsibilities are:

  • To act as a trusted adviser and main point of contact to traders within the partner’s team as a provider of reliable, knowledgeable and innovative data insight
  • To ensure that accurate and appropriate measurement and evaluation of relevant marketing activity is achieved for clients
  • To provide robust testing strategies for each campaign activity
  • To be the main point of contact for your clients for any data planning related issues.
  • Writing analytical briefs for the analytics team to deliver
  • Costing or writing of data planning proposals including liaising with analytics teams on timings and costs, as appropriate

Requirements:

  • Likely to be educated to degree level.
  • Five years’ experience of working client side, supplying retail analysis to food retailers/ FMCGs using either customer data or panel data (e.g. Kantar/ Nielsen data)
  • Previous experience of customer loyalty data & knowledge of how it relates to complementary data sources e.g. Consumer Panel data
  • Extensive knowledge of how segmentation and profiling techniques are used in trading and marketing
  • Experience of using analytics tools and programming languages
