Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients in the food and agriculture sectors, including producers, traders, processors, and other relevant stakeholders. Proactively identify opportunities to deepen relationships and expand the client base.
- Business Development: Drive business growth by identifying potential clients and market opportunities within the food and agriculture commodities industry. Develop and execute strategic plans to acquire new clients and expand the bank's market presence.
- Financial Solutions: Assess clients' financing requirements and structure customized commodity finance solutions. This includes pre-shipment financing, inventory financing, structured trade finance, and other relevant products to meet their specific needs.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough due diligence and risk assessments on potential clients, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. Evaluate creditworthiness and assess the financial viability of proposed financing transactions.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams, including risk, legal, compliance, and operations, to ensure smooth execution of transactions and adherence to regulatory guidelines. Work closely with product specialists to leverage cross-selling opportunities and enhance the range of financial solutions offered.
- Market Intelligence: Stay abreast of market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes impacting the food and agriculture sectors. Provide insights and analysis to clients, keeping them informed about relevant market dynamics and helping them make informed financing decisions.
- Portfolio Management: Monitor the performance of the commodity finance portfolio, assess credit risks, and proactively manage any potential issues. Identify opportunities for portfolio optimization and growth.
skills & experiences required.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant professional certification is a plus.
- Proven experience, preferrably 8 years+, as a Commodity Finance Coverage Banker, with a focus on the food and agriculture sectors.
- Strong understanding of the commodity finance landscape, including knowledge of financing structures, risk management, and industry-specific challenges in the food and agriculture sectors.
- Demonstrated track record in business development, relationship management, and delivering financial solutions to clients.
- Sound knowledge of credit analysis, risk assessment, and compliance requirements in the banking industry.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex financial situations and propose viable solutions.
- Proficiency in relevant financial software and systems.
